How We Measure Achievement
Achievement at Explore Schools is about more than test scores. While test scores are an important indicator of student success, our ultimate goal is to ensure Explore Schools’ students are on track to succeed in college-preparatory high schools. Without the hard work of our students, families, staff and leaders the achievements of our network would not be possible.
Achievement Highlights:
-
High school placement: Nearly 100 percent of Explore Schools' graduated 8th graders have gained acceptance to, and are currently attending college-preparatory high schools, which are schools where high school graduation rates exceed 85%.
- Scholarships: Our students have earned thousands of dollars in high school scholarships and spots in some of New York's more prestigious student programs including: New York City Summer Arts Institute, Prep for Prep/Prep 9 The Breakthrough Collaborative/Breakthrough New York and College Now.
- Staff Retention: Teacher retention matters at Explore Schools. Teachers in the Explore Schools network are, on average in their third year of teaching with our organization. One third of our teachers are in their fourth year with Explore Schools, and over 20 percent have been with us five or more years.
- Staff Satisfaction: On staff surveys, 90 percent of our staff agrees that there is a collective sense of friendliness, openness, enthusiasm, and trust among faculty members.
