Enroll Your Student

Thank you for your interest in enrollment for the 2012 – 2013 school year!

Empower Charter School is an  open enrollment, public school—there is no test for admissions. Our acceptance for enrollment is based upon the number of available seats in each grade. To be considered for admissions, you must submit an application. Our school welcomes all students, including those with special needs and students for whom English is not their first language.

We are only accepting waitlist applications at this time for all grades.   If you have questions please feel free to email us at empoweradmissions@explorenetwork.org or giving us a call at (718) 771-2090.

Lottery Details

If the number of applications received exceeds the number of spots available, we will run a lottery at the school on April 11th at 6pm. If you do not receive an invitation to our lottery by April 9, please contact the school to confirm that we have received your application.

Empower Charter school gives the following lottery admissions preferences:

1. Siblings of currently enrolled students receive first preference in our lottery. In order to qualify for the sibling preference, families must meet one of the following: 1) Siblings that reside in the same home under the supervision of the same parent(s) or legal guardian(s). 2) Children that reside in the same household that have the same legal caregiver. Legal proof of guardianship and residence is required by the application deadline for both instances.

2. Students who reside in Community School District 17 receive second preference in our lottery. If you do not know what Community School District you live in you can call 311 or visit http://gis.nyc.gov/dcp/at/f1.jsp.

If your child is accepted to Empower Charter School, adequate proof of residence will be required upon enrollment. Failure to provide adequate proof of residence may result in your child's seat being revoked.
